As you can tell by our numerous bottle shops and beer bars, Downtown Raleigh loves beer! Not only do we love drinking it, but we also love making it as well.

Over the past few years, new breweries have been popping up all over North Carolina, including Downtown Raleigh. These breweries make outstanding beers with unique local ingredients and also provide great spaces to hang out with your friends for a fabulous time.

Here is a list of some of the best Downtown Raleigh breweries:

Crank Arm Brewing

The Crank Arm Brewing Crew loves beer and bikes! You will find beers of all kinds at this brewery, typically with a bike-themed name. My personal favorite is the Rickshaw Rye IPA, which is one of its flagship beers. Crank Arm Brewing also brews seasonal beers, so there is always something new and exciting on the menu. In addition to brewing wonderful beer, Crank Arm Brewing hosts a weekly bike ride. Check out the event page for details.

Trophy Brewing

Trophy Brewing is one of Downtown Raleigh’s most ubiquitous breweries and you can experience it throughout the area. The magic happens at Trophy on Maywood, which is its brewery and taproom. You will find all its flagship beers, like Trophy Wife and Yard of the Month, as well seasonals. You can also experience Trophy beers at Trophy Brewing + Pizza on Morgan. At this location, you can enjoy a fresh pizza with creative toppings along with your beer. Trophy Tap + Table, located on Wilmington Street, is its latest venture. Enjoy some Nashville Hot Chicken Wings along with your Trophy beer!

Brewery Bhavana

Brewery Bhavan is the newest brewery on our list, but it’s already incredibly popular with the Downtown Raleigh crowd. Brewery Bhavana came to be when Patrick Woodson, a homebrewer, had a serendipitous meeting with the owners of Bida Manda. Together, they came up with the concept of pairing Patrick’s subtle, elegant beers with Dim Sum. This space also has a flower shop and bookshop, making it one of the more unique breweries in Raleigh.

Little City Brewing

Little City Brewing features freshly brewed beers along with creative cocktails and wine, so there’s something for everyone. The draft list changes seasonally, but one of my personal favorites is the Jalapeno Serrano.

Other downtown spots that brew their own beer include Tobacco Road Sports Cafe and Clouds Brewing, which is also known for The Downpour, a wall of draft beers that you can pour yourself. Drink a beer from any of the breweries on this list, and you will taste the true creativity and passion of Downtown Raleigh!
