Sure, it gets a little hot in the summer, but we are lucky to have great weather most days in Downtown Raleigh. Dining and drinking al fresco is VERY popular with the locals day or night, so it’s no surprise that restaurants and bars create great outdoor spaces for patrons to enjoy year-round.

Here are six of our favorite spots to enjoy the outdoors:

The Raleigh Times

The Raleigh Times is one of Downtown Raleigh’s most popular bars. With craft beer on tap and fantastic bar food, it’s no wonder the place is always packed, inside and out. There are two options for outside seating. There are several tables lined up outside, which is perfect for people watching. Personally, I enjoy the rooftop patio so I can get a bird’s eye view of the city while enjoying my beer!

Taverna Agora

Taverna Agora features beautiful patios upstairs and downstairs. Best of all, you can enjoy your Greek fare with fantastic views at any time of the year. Both patios are enclosed and heated when it’s cold outside!

Gallo Pelon

When you go upstairs to enter Gallo Pelon, keep going right through the back door! There you will find a dimly lit outdoor patio with long tables. Enjoy your Mezcal with a large group of friends or make some new ones!

Humble Pie

Enjoy a tiny piece of the tropics right here in Downtown Raleigh! The Humble Pie patio features a tiki bar, which will put you in a partying mood any night of the week, but especially Wednesdays, when Humble Pie hosts a FREE Jazz show.

State of Beer

In addition to having great beer on tap, delicious sandwiches and a fantastic selection of bottles available for purchase, State of Beer also has one of the best patios in Raleigh! The corner of Hillsborough Street and Harrington makes for a great spot for people watching. State of Beer often hosts cookouts on the patio, so follow them on Facebook to keep up with events.

Dram & Draught

Dram & Draught has a wall full of whiskey, a great patio and huge garage doors that they throw open when the weather is nice. Even if you are inside, you will feel like you are outside! Dram & Draught often features live music and the cocktail menu changes with the season.

Other Downtown Raleigh spots with great patios include Whiskey Kitchen, Sitti, London Bridge Pub and Watts & Ward.

Enjoying a delicious meal, craft beer or cocktail is taken to another level when it can be enjoyed under the sun.
