Tickets are selling fast for the first ever Summer Daze music festival, an all-day party in Raleigh. Attendees will have the opportunity to celebrate the summer with good vibes at Coastal Credit Union’s Midtown Park in North Hills on Sat, Aug 18th from early afternoon into the evening. Experience one of Raleigh’s best outdoor music venues with fun performances by the headliners — Shwayze and Cisco Adler, who are celebrating their 10th annual summer tour. They will be hitting the stage alongside other favorite local up-and-comers such as Raleigh based Nance and few more popular national acts that originally hail from NC — Carter Cruise and Lute.
Tickets for this North Hills event may be purchased in advance online through eTix.com or upon arrival the day of, at one of the official entry tents at Summer Daze. After the event wraps up around 8ish in the evening, head on over to World of Beer in North Hills right across the street from Midtown park for a fun after party to close out the night right. WOB will feature drink specials all throughout the day. Enjoy 4 dollar mimosas and bloody marys, and 5 dollar classic shots, and of course can’t forget mystery beers. A DJ will start spinning tunes around 9 PM and will play until 12 AM.
The music festival is being organized by Raleigh based Seven Foot Giant, a brand new local production company started by three friends from North Carolina last year. Cameron Joyner grew up in eastern NC, Matt DuBois in the Cary area, and Dan Mercer was born and raised in downtown Raleigh. The threesome shared a love for art and creativity long before the creation of the company. All three have always been active in music, film, videography, and production as “passionate hobbies” throughout their lives.
North Carolina’s Best New Rising Stars
It was in 2017 when Dan Mercer decided to take a chance on turning a passionate hobby into a career, and applied to pursue an MFA in Filmmaking from the University of North Carolina School of the Arts. Shortly after Mercer got accepted into the MFA program, he decided that he should make video production his part-time job while in school.
Despite working full-time corporate jobs, Joyner and DuBois shared the passion of starting a video production company as well after a bit of talking, so the three gathered up their resources to come up with all the equipment needed, which they already owned — and then officially realized they had the means to give it a go. It was then that Seven Foot Giant was born.
After beginning to gain some clients and get things up and running with their video production portion of the company (including Capstone Event Group and Raleigh Raw for example), Joyner and DuBois decided to create the other branch of Seven Foot Giant — local event productions. A mutual love of music among the group made a concert the natural first step into event production. In late 2017, Summer Daze music festival was officially conceived.
This inaugural festival will host your favorite food trucks, vendors, mural artists, and will have plenty of cold beer too. Confirmed food trucks to attend the event include Chirba Chirba Dumpling, Bamboo Cookhouse, Kono Pizza, Ingredient, and a few more which are in the works.
” The concept of the festival was built around a few specific things — positive vibes; celebrating summer; blending musical genres; and delivering a first-class, high-quality event. It was also important to the group to make the festival a Raleigh-focused event. So while some of the headlining acts are national, the rest of the bill is made up of North Carolina-based acts. The food will all be local, and almost all of the featured vendors are local businesses as well..

Great New Venue, Ready For Big Time
The event organizers told us that the North Hills venue — Coastal Credit Union Midtown Park at North Hills, was the perfect fit for a number of reasons. The amphitheater is still fairly new, absolutely beautiful, and big enough to hold a large crowd upwards of 4,500, yet still more intimate than a place like Red Hat in downtown Raleigh. It’s an ideal space to be able to have food trucks, vendors, and lots of festivities going on in addition to the music. Summer Daze will be the first event of its kind to be held at North Hills.
There have been free concerts (beach music, cover bands, etc) but never a paid entry event with entirely original music kicking off at 12 pm and running all the way into the evening hours with 10+ performers on the lineup.
The new Summer Daze festival will be a celebration of music, local business and culture, and of course summertime vibes. Come out and see Shwayze, Cisco Adler, Nance, Lute, Carter Cruise, Jackie Spade, King Fresco, Rookie of the Year, Surfer Blood, Mike’s Left Arm, WONDR, DJ Nevy, and other special guests who will definitely rock the stage! Enjoy food and drinks from Raleigh’s favorite food trucks and vendors.
Event organizers told us that plans for Summer Daze 2019 were already underway as well.
